Things to do

Boating - Boat Driver Training

ABC SOUTHCOAST NSW is owned and operated by Greg Reid, covering Wollongong - Batemans Bay - Jervis Bay - Merimbula

Greg is a professional skipper based in Jervis Bay who has a wealth of experience based on a lifetime of recreational boating as well as a 12yr commercial career which began with several thousand hours on square rigged ships such as HMAV Bounty and the Bark Endeavour Replica, yachting in the Whitsundays, lobster fishing in Western Australia, fleet support for navy and managing an 18 metre catamaran dolphin and whale watching in and around the Jervis Bay Marine Park.

Licence Courses are generally run over one day, with the practical being conducted in the morning when conditions are generally more settled, this method also enables the boat to be used as a visual learning aid. By the time its ready to head back to the classroom for the testing and tuition you have already experienced much of what is contained in the course notes. The more fun we have in the field, the more we learn!

Stand Up Paddle Boarding - Jervis Bay Stand Up Paddle

Challenging – yet remarkably easy
It looks so hard yet this sport is remarkably easy on flat water, particularly if you are shown the correct techniques and are on the right board. We are confident that all of our clients will be successfully stand up paddling by the end of their first lesson.

Scenic
Touring along in the standing position affords the paddler a much better view into the water. As well as a huge array of fish species, you are likely to see dolphins, stingrays, eagle rays, penguins and a myriad of bird species. There has even been the occasional seal!

A full body workout
This sport works every single muscle in your body the whole time you are balancing on the board and yet you don't feel like you are doing anything at all. As a bonus the paddling motion builds core strength and helps turn that keg back into a six-pack!

Jervis Bay Stand Up Paddle offers quality instruction in an encouraging and supportive environment. Our main instructor is a late bloomer in water sports and has particular empathy for other women wanting to experience a new and exciting activity.

Wineries - Kladis Estate Wines

Nestled on the NSW Shoalhaven Coast, Kladis Estate Wines at Wandandian is only 10 minutes from Jervis Bay and Sussex Inlet with the St Georges Basin just across the highway from the vineyard.

Whilst known for its pristine beaches, national parks and hinterland the Shoalhaven Coast is now emerging as Australia's newest wine region.

Located on a 50 acre property at Wandandian (Aboriginal for "Home of Lost Lovers") the winery is very picturesque set amongst beautiful gardens with Wandean Ridge as the backdrop.

With Jim's mediterranean heritage and several generations of winemaking behind him he immediately saw the potential of this property. Wandandian's warm days, cool evenings and afternoon sea breezes from the basin made it perfect grape growing country.

Kladis Estate Wines are made from grapes grown in the estate's vineyards. The varieties currently being grown are Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot, Muscadelle, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Verdelho.

With only two vintages behind them, Kladis Estate Wines is rapidly establishing a reputation for the production of premium quality wines. The winery currently boasts several awards, one of which is the Best Red in the Shoalhaven for it's 2002 Shiraz.

The atmosphere at Kladis Estate Wines is very warm and personal, with Jim and Niki providing a friendly welcome to all visitors.
